How to minimise clutter and enhance your productivity

‘Organisation isn’t about perfection. It’s about efficiency, reducing stress and clutter, saving time and improving your overall quality of life’.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by your ever growing to do list? Or feel like there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done?

By implementing some simple daily habits and creating a more simplified and minimal lifestyle, you will increase your productivity and gain back your valuable time which will allow you to focus more on your family, career and most importantly, you!

Below are my top tips to help you eliminate the overwhelm in your life:

Identify the areas in your life that need decluttering.

  • Thoughts
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Finances
  • Life admin
  • Office / desk
  • Wardrobe
  • Kitchen
  • Garage / spare room

Decision making

The five second rule is a simple decision making tool I use that can literally change your behaviour. Most of us have instincts that tell us to play it safe and not be courageous. But the 5 second rule can give us just enough time to move in the direction that can open us up to life’s opportunities. Stop procrastinating and just start. You’ll thank yourself later! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…let’s go!

If it’s going to take less than 2 minutes, do it now.

  • Make your bed
  • Empty the dishwasher
  • Open the mail
  • Pay that bill
  • RSVP to that event
  • Declutter your desk
  • Reply to that email
  • Make that appointment

Gain control and take charge of your day

Plan your day the night before. Figure out what you’re going to eat, what you’re going to wear, what you need to do and where you need to be so you’re prepared and ready.

Set your alarm and wake up earlier.

You’ll be able to squeeze in those small tasks, do some exercise, listen to a motivational podcast, or meditate. It will make the world of difference and you’ll give yourself a positive head start for the day.

Work smart.

Choose the 3 most important tasks on your to do list and complete those first. You’re not allowed to start anything else before these things have been done.
